If You Walk With God, You’ll Get Where He is Going

I’m not sure when I heard that statement for the first time, or who said it, but I often sign off with that quote when I communicate with someone. The Bible character that comes to mind when I think about those words, is Enoch. You’ll find about four sentences written about him in Genesis chapter five where we are told that, “Enoch walked with God 300 years…” and “Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away.” About the only other information there is about him is who his father was, that he had a son named Methuselah, and that he had other sons and daughters. People seemed to live longer in those days. In fact, Methuselah set the record for the oldest person in the Bible. We are told he lived to be 969 years old.

Back to Enoch. Have you ever thought about what you want to be remembered for? Can you think of anything better than to have been known as someone who walked with God? It isn’t going to happen, unless you plan for it – unless you are intentional in the way you live your life. A good place to start is at the end. Think about what you want to be known for at the end of your life. If it is to be known as a person who walked with God, start dong it today. Talk to Him. Read His Word and obey it. Walk in the spirit. Try to imitate Jesus. And of course, make sure that Jesus is your Lord and Saviour. If you do these things, you’ll get where God is going.
